ICAR & ECCJ Assess Current National Action Plans on Business & Human Rights

The International Corporate Accountability Roundtable (ICAR), in partnership with the European Coalition for Corporate Justice (ECCJ), is conducting structured assessments of current National Action Plans (NAPs) on business and human rights. Four countries — the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Finland — have released such NAPs.
The ICAR-ECCJ project is analyzing these four NAPs using the ICAR-DIHR NAPs Toolkit, released in June 2014. The NAPs Toolkit provides a set of 25 criteria by which NAPs can be assessed, covering both the content of NAPs and the process undertaken by States in developing them.
A full compilation of all four, individual assessments, along with a brief assessment of the quality of NAPs overall thus far, is scheduled for release at the UN Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights, taking place 1-3 December 2014 in Geneva.
