Welcome to the "Human Rights Due Diligence Project" and our "Due Diligence Database". The Human Rights Due Diligence Project set out to understand how governments could use their regulatory authority to mandate or encourage businesses to engage in human rights due diligence activity, a component of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Our Report surveyed legal experts from around the world, and resulted in the collection of over 100 examples of existing State practice with regard to due diligence in areas analogous to or including human rights. The International Experts commissioned to develop the Report and the Compensium include Professor Olivier De Schutter, Professor Anita Ramasastry, Mark B. Taylor and Robert C. Thompson.
This searchable database includes all examples identified, indexed by country and characteristic features. The full Database and Report are available for download in .doc and .pdf format in the "Download" section of this website.
If you have examples of due diligence regulations that are not featured in our Database, please consider submitting them by contacting Amol Mehra, Director, International Corporate Accountability Roundtable, at [email protected]
